At Frame of Mind we work with a range of profiles where each frame is hand sanded and stained in one of our signature finishes to enhance the natural characteristics of the timber.

Each frame is custom made to fit your artwork, whether it is a poster, a painting on canvas, or a photograph.

Frame of Mind shadow box frames are handmade in our Northcote workshop using Australian grown and sustainably harvested Tasmanian Oak.

Our shadow box frames are created specifically for framing works on canvas of different depths and sizes.  We can also frame works on board and other mediums in our shadow box frames. 

Each shadow box frame is custom made to fit your artwork, enhancing your canvas and transforming it into a beautiful fully realised piece of art.

Shadow Box Framing

Our shadow box frames are created specifically for framing works on canvas, although art and photos can sit in the shadow box.

Frame of Mind offers handmade canvas stretching services in our Northcote workshop using sustainably sourced pine stretchers.

At Frame of Mind we work with two different stretcher bar depths to accomodate all sizes of un-stretched canvas.   


These profiles fit perfectly into our shadow box frame profiles, to complete the stunning look of a stretch and framed canvas.

  • Is every frame handcrafted?

    Yes!  Every frame is hand made, sanded, stained and assembled in our light filled Northcote workshop!

  • Where are the materials sourced?

    Our materials are all locally sourced.  

    We use beautiful Australian grown and sustainably harvested Tasmanian Oak.

  • What are your business hours?

    Monday to Friday 9:30 to 2:30 and Saturday 10:00 - 2:00.


    Drop offs and collections can be made outside these hours - please contact us to discuss!  We are flexible.


  • Where is your workshop?

    4 Goldsmith Grove, Northcote.  


    There is a car wash on the corner and parking out the front!  


    You enter through the gate to the left of our friends at Madera Cafe.


    Come on in!





  • Is there a limit on frame size?

    We can frame all shapes and sizes!  All our frames are custom made, and we love coming up with solutions for all your framing needs.

    Our standard turnaround time is 2 weeks.


    We do our very best to accomodate jobs required urgently.   


    We are always happy to help artists get their pieces frame for exhibitions when deadlines can be tight!

  • Is there a guarantee if there is a fault or problem?

    Our frames are built to last!  


    If you have issues with your frame in the future please contact us and we will do everything we can.
